Analysis on Structure and Filtration Performance of HYDAC High-pressure Filter Elements

1. Main Structure

It adopts an integral pressure-bearing cylindrical structure for high-pressure pipeline applications. The outer part consists of high-strength metal support frame and inner & outer protective meshes to resist high-pressure impact and prevent filter media from collapsing under pressure. The central core filter body is mostly made of Optimicron graded glass fiber (BN series) with a pleated design to expand the effective filtration area. Both ends are fitted with NBR or FKM sealing rings to ensure leak-tight performance under high pressure. A differential pressure actuated bypass valve is built in for emergency protection of the oil circuit. The end caps are bonded with high-strength adhesive to withstand alternating high-pressure loads and prevent debonding and cracking.

2. Core Filtration Performance

High-efficiency interception: It features mainstream filtration ratings from 3 μm to 20 μm with a beta value of no less than 200 and particle removal efficiency above 99.5%. It stably maintains hydraulic oil cleanliness at NAS 6~7 level and offers reliable protection for precision components such as servo valves and proportional valves.

High pressure resistance: The standard pressure resistance reaches 210 bar. Thanks to robust structural strength, it copes with frequent pressure pulsations in hydraulic systems without deformation or damage to filter media and frames.

Dirt holding and differential pressure performance: The graded glass fiber media traps contaminants layer by layer. The pleated structure increases dirt holding capacity and keeps differential pressure rising gently to extend service life. It also delivers low initial flow resistance and stable performance during cold startup.

Emergency protection: The bypass valve opens at preset pressure. When the filter is severely clogged, the valve automatically opens to maintain oil flow, avoiding circuit blockage and pump overload and ensuring continuous equipment operation.

3. Limitations and Notes on Application

The glass fiber filter media is disposable and cannot be cleaned. Long-term exposure to excessive temperature, water-oil emulsification and strongly corrosive media will accelerate media aging and seal failure. Under high-pressure working conditions, prolonged operation with the bypass valve open is strictly forbidden, as bypassed contaminants will cause rapid wear of high-pressure hydraulic components.
